Ville Verdi
The five residential blocks that make up the Ville Verdi in Vienna, Austria’s capital city, lean back almost lazily in a way that makes one imagine that the apartments might have sloping floors, with furniture sliding inexorably towards the rear elevation. GDF Suez
The striking and somewhat stark appearance of the 800MW GDF Suez coal-burning power plant at Wilhelmshaven, in northern Germany, reflects the fact that this is one of the most modern and efficient power plants of its kind in the world.

Port of Brisbane Office Building
If you see a building raised on stilts in a waterside area, the first reaction is always to think that this has been done for flood protection. But, in the case of the new Port of Brisbane Office Building in Brisbane, Australia, the explanation is much simpler. Architect Thomson Adsett raised the three storey building by approximately one storey in order to allow occupants to benefit from the view.
